At the begining of this project, I made a mood board with images people would usually associate with a thriller. I included a woman screaming, a forest, silhouetes and masks.
This is now a photo of images associated with our thriller. As you can see we stuck to some of the typical things you would see in a thriller.
- A forest. Thrillers usually try to create a sense of isolation, therefore a setting of a forest is ideal.
- The photo of Penny crying represents how she feels, upset and scared. These are emotions often felt by the main characters in thrillers.
- Gore is often used in thrillers to freak people out. The main character in our thriller commits suicide by slitting her wrists and drowning herself.
- Props in thrillers are important. A prop which is usually seen is a knife, which was something we included in our original moodboard. However in the end we chose for our main prop to be a photograph of Penny and an unknown male. It gives an idea to the audience why Penny has commited suicide when she burns the photograph of herself and the boy.
