British Board of Film Censors, is a non-governmental organisation, funded by the film industry and responsible for the national classification of films within the United Kingdom. The BBFC are in charge in deciding what age rating a film, television series or game should get.
There is a very specific criteria for each age rating set by the BBFC:-
To appeal to a large audience will be aiming for an age 15 rating. The reason for this is that many of the people who visit the cinema are teenagers. Also, anyone younger may be shocked at some of the images being shown and the content involved within the film. The BBFC classify that films under this age rating maybe contain 'use of very strong language, moderate-strong violence'
